CHISENUPURI

SNOWCAT POWDER EXPERIENCE (¥39,000) — BOOKINGS OPEN FOR WINTER 2017/18
NEW LODGE — OPENING WINTER SEASON 2017/18

Chisenupuri marks a quantum leap in the Japanese powder market. Truly a Japanese Onsen experience, with the tree-lined ski area surrounding the Chisenupuri Hot Springs, and recently renovated Onsen facility, the quintessential Japanese bathing experience. A secret to local Japanese, “Chise” or translated as “House”, really is a discrete home lucky to be enjoyed by those booking through The House Of Powder (THoP).

Chise offers multi terrain variations, all focussed on powder. It is a completely “non groomed” mountain, with pre-existing ski runs allowed to constantly fill with light, dry powder. This gives novice riders wishing to learn to ski powder — or for those just getting into the sport — safe ground underfoot, boosting enjoyment and the learning cycle. For the intermediate and experienced powder machines, Chise offers significant backcountry opportunities, with most lines ending at the foot of the Hot Springs. Theses lines are tree-filled, with large bank and gullies, translating to high quality video and photo moments, capturing your JaPOW adventures.

Access is by mechanised Snowcats only, operated by Hokkaido Backcountry Club (HBC), an experienced local backcountry company, who were recently voted 2016 World’s Best Heli Operator, by the World Ski Awards. This limited daily runs mountain is open five days per week (allowing for plentiful powder refill), a mere 20km from Hirafu main town, and within 15 minutes from multi resort and accommodation options. Chise is ideal for those wishing to leave the cluttered resort runs for a limited person JaPOW experience, without the long journey or overnight stays to other backcountry operations. THoP offers Learn to Ski Powder courses and guided backcountry groups, for those wanting something extra. Otherwise, grab your ticket and we’ll see you at the bottom.
